Metro Glass continues to operate nationally under the revised COVID-19 Alert Levels

31 August 2020

Under Alert Level 2, Metro Performance Glass will continue our manufacturing, site glazing and associated support services across the country.  Supporting our customers and staff is a priority for us as we work through this period.

For Auckland in Alert Level 2.5, we will be operating under strict guidelines to ensure we do this safely, with our staff, customers, and suppliers wellbeing top of mind. Essentially, delivery’s and glazing will be largely unaffected within the Alert Level 2 guidelines, if you are unsure of the implications please contact you Metro representative or customer services.

For the Auckland region (Pukekohe to Wellsford) guidelines are as follows:

(A) Deliveries

Our drivers and glaziers have been provided with information around physical distancing.  We would appreciate that you respect this when they are delivering product to your business or glazing on site.  All deliveries for product coming out of the Auckland Plant will be contactless as per previous Alert Level 3 guidelines.  Please update us with your site protocol for us to achieve this.  If you have any cases of COVID-19 in your workplace, or on any of your sites, we require you to notify us immediately, please.  We continue to deliver product to the market with the expectation that our customers will be following the self-isolation guidelines by the Ministry of Health.

(B) People

The safety and wellbeing of each of our teams remain our highest priority, and their welfare will be our guiding principle through all actions we take under Alert Levels 2 & 3.  All customer and market facing sales and customer service staff continue to operate, as they have been throughout the lockdown.  Contact us through your usual channels.  All staff that can work remotely will continue to work from home under Alert Level 2.5 for Auckland and will be able to be contacted as usual.

(C) Manufacturing

Our Plants will operate under Alert Levels 2 & 2.5 using a range of measures including: additional hygiene, physical distancing, creating small bubbles within our manufacturing plants, use of additional PPE where required and split shifts.  All products and usual manufacturing limitations will apply, there will be no restrictions relative to what products and processes we are usually able to produce.  Our capacity will not change due to the change in Alert Levels and we do not expect our current lead times to be materially impacted based on demand remaining stable at current levels

(D) Site Glazing

Likewise, our site glazing services will resume, using similar measures as above.  In addition, we will follow the Construction Protocols which have been developed by Industry when on construction sites.

(E) Metro Sites and visitors

Whilst all Metro sites remain open and operational, we will not be able to have visitors or customers attend our sites without prior arrangement and good reason under COVID guidelines. In short, we only envisage site visits by customers to collect glass/products. The Auckland Hub and Highbrook under Alert Level 2.5 will continue with customer collection protocols that were in place during Alert Level 3.

If you are entering our facilities, we ask that you follow the guidelines of “Physical Distancing” as provided by the Ministry of Health. Our staff will also be adhering to this practice to keep everyone safe.  Please do not visit our Auckland site as per Alert Level 3 requirements.

(F) Supply chain

Our supply chain remains intact, we have good stock levels of raw material and consumables to manufacture finished product. We currently expect no material disruption to our supply chain over the coming weeks and months because of Covid-19.

(G) Technical support & Estimating services

Our Technical team and Estimators will continue to work remotely through the changing Alert Levels.  All usual Technical, Engineering, Specification, and Estimating services continue to be available.  Our priority will be to create a safe working environment for our people and customers so that we are well placed to continue to supply product and services to our customers throughout Alert Levels 2 & 2.5. We are confident that we can operate the business effectively under Alert Levels 2 & 2.5.

Thank you for your continued support, take care, and stay safe.
