8.9 Self Cleaning
Self cleaning glass is clear float glass with a pyrolitic coating which works in two stages. Firstly the coating reacts with UV light rays to generate a photocatalytic process that loosens and breaks down organic dirt particles on the surface of the glass. Secondly, when rain lands on the glass, the water is attracted to the surface by the hydrophilic properties, causing it to sheet evenly across the glass, washing away the loose dirt and drying without spotting. Typical products are Activ and Radiance. The coating can also be combined with a Low E coating on surface 2 such as Radiance Ti.
Manufactured in: 4, 5 and 6mm
Available in: 4 and 6mm
Laminated options: 6.38mm Neutral or Grey
Vanceva is a unique range of coloured PVB interlayers which can be combined to blend personality and functionality into laminated safety glass.
The pigmented interlayer is available in 8 colours and two light transmission levels, each in tones of red, yellow, blue, black or white.
In addition, 3 metallic textured interlayers are available that can be added to the mix. Vanceva laminates are made for specific contracts and minimum quantity limits apply.
8.11 Image Glass
Image Glass combines the latest in image technology
with the proven process of PVB laminating to create a
high quality reproduction of any image or design inside
the glass laminate. Typical applications are partitions, table tops, internal signage, foyer screens, floors, shower screens and lift linings. Digital or transparency artwork or pictures can be used and some limitations apply depending on the type of process. Typical products are Imagelite, DigiGlass and Sentry Glass Expressions. Maximum sizes are limited by the image and process and enquiries should be submitted.
Imagelite – Max size 3600 x 1500mm.
8.12 XIR Laminated
XIR Laminated film is a special spectrally selective film used in PVB laminated glass that reflects UV and IR with an optically clear appearance. The laminate can achieve high light transmission with a low shading coefficient.
The film can be combined with tinted glass or interlayer to improve the shading coefficient or combined in an IGU for high performance glazing applications.
8.13 Anti Reflection
Reflections on ordinary glass can impede the view of shopfronts, view windows, display cases, information displays and picture frames. Anti Reflection glass has a special coating on one or both sides of the glass which reduces the reflections from the normal 8% for clear glass to 1%.
Typical products are Luxar and Amiran. They are non stock items and are available to order in 2 to 12mm thickness and sizes up to 3800 x 1900mm.
8.14 X-Ray Radiation
Radiation Shielding Lead Glass
This is a special lead glass with excellent radiation shielding capabilities and high light transmittance. It has many medical and laboratory applications and has a very high light transmittance, almost the same as clear glass. It can be used in X-ray and CT scanning rooms to provide a transparent shield against X-ray radiation.
Typical products are:
LX57B has excellent radioactive screening performance. For example 9mm LX57B has the same X-ray shielding capabilities (lead equivalent 2.0mm Pb) as 2mm thick lead plating. LX57B is a JIS approved product and is marked accordingly. Maximum size: 2600 x 1200mm.
Med-X shields against X-rays from 100 – 300 kV range. It has high barium and lead content for optimum protection and can be laminated for safety or made into an IGU if required.
